Save Options
MSN9, MSN9.5, Internet Explorer 6.
Options in other browsers may vary.

Right-Clicking on a WebPage
Will bring up the following options:
1) "Save Background As". If the page is using a graphic as a background and you right-click over a blank-spot on the page, (not over another graphic that is ON the page), you will get this option to "Save Background As". Choosing that option brings up the save window where you can choose which folder on your pc you want to save it to, and what you want to name the image.
(You will also get the "Save Background As" option if you right click in a table that is using a graphic as a background.)
2) "Set As Background". Automatically sets the background image of the page as your desktop wallpaper.
3) "Copy Background". Copies the background image to your cache so you can paste it into your choice of graphic program.
4) "Set As Desktop item". Don't know what purpose this would serve. It adds the actual image to your desktop, not just a shortcut to it.
5) "Create Shortcut". Adds a shortcut icon to the page, not just the background graphic, to your desktop.
6) "View Source". Opens the source code of the page in Notepad.
7) Other self-explanatory options: "Add To Favorites". "Print". "Refresh". "Export to Microsoft Excel". "Encoding".

Right-Clicking on a Graphic That is Not the Page Background:
Brings up the following options:
1) "Save Picture As". Brings up the save window where you choose what folder you want to save the graphic to and can rename it if desired.
2) "Set As Background". Automatically sets the graphic as your desktop wallpaper.
3) "Set As Your Picture." Sets the graphic as your Dashboard picture.
4) "Set As Desktop Item." Puts the actual graphic on your desktop, not just a shortcut to it.
5) "Copy". Copies graphic to your cache so you can paste it into a graphics program.
6) Other self-explanatory options: "Email Picture". "Print Picture". "Add to Favorites". "Go to My Pictures".

Clicking "File"-->"Save As" from the browser window:
Brings up a save window to designate the folder you want to save the file to, the file name, and the TYPE of file. Default save-to folder is "My Received Files". Default file name is the page title. Default file type is "Webpage Complete, .htm, .html". Name and folder to save to is up to you. It's the TYPE of file that makes a difference.

1)File type = "WebPage Complete,.htm, .html"
Saves the source code of the page as a "pagetitle.htm" file AND saves all the graphics on the page in a seperate folder called "pagetitle_files". This will appear as a subfolder inside of whichever folder you designated as the one to save the page to. More info HERE.

2) File type = "WebPage, html only"
Saves the source code of the page as a "pagetitle.html" file. Does NOT save the graphics on the page.

3)File type = ".txt document".
Saves only the TEXT that is visible on the page (not the source code) to a "pagetitle.txt" file.

4) File type = "WebPage Archive, single file, MHTML format"
Saves the page as an MHTML document. All I've found about MHTML files so far is that "they bind the HTML files and the associated graphics into a single file so that they're not seperated and lost - and yet can still be read as an ordinary webpage by your browser." Seems to be a format used for opening webpages in Word or Frontpage.

Once you have a file saved somewhere on the pc, you can then right-click on it to bring up the options to send to floppy or disc, or email, or zip it/unzip it, etc...

If you do not want to save a file to your hard drive and would rather save directly to a floppy/cd, then when the save window comes up after clicking "file" - "save as", instead of choosing a folder as the save-to location, choose the floppy/cd drive instead.
